Rtn Arun Kumar Goenka was born in Bankura, West Bengal in 1953. He is married to Rtn Sunita Goenka and is blessed with two daughters Archita and Aditi and one son Rtn Neelabh.

After graduation, he came to Ichalkaranji and started trading in yarn in the year 1971, and also started branch office in Mumbai in the year 1974. He was twice awarded as the highest Income Tax payer in Kolhapur District by the Income Tax department. He is also a director of Vishnu Shankar Mill, Rajapalayam. Rtn Arun became the Charter Treasurer of Rotary Club of Ichalkaranji which was founded in the year 1976 and later became club President in the year 1978-79. He was also the founder Chairman of Rotary Welfare Trust, Ichalkaranji. Under this trust he took a prominent lead to build and start the Rotary Deaf School and planning and construction of the Rotary Club of Ichalkaranji building where consequently permanent projects like Physiotherapy Centre, Pathology lab etc were started under his guidance. During PDG Rtn Mahendra Mutha's tenure, Rtn Arun took the responsibility as Chairman of the District Conference of Dist 3170 hosted in Ichalkaranji. This conference was appreciated as one of the best managed conferences in the District and he was felicitated as best Rotarian of Dist 3170 in the conference.

Since Rtn Arun started staying in Kolhapur, he became member of Rotary Club of Kolhapur in the year 2014-15 and took active interest in the activities of the club and Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra. He also contributed generously for the construction of ICONIC Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra building - "Madhav Prasad Goenka Bhavan" at Tarabai Park, Kolhapur. He is a proud donor to the TRF as a Major Donor.

Rtn Arun Goenka is the founder Chairman of Agrasen Seva Trust, Ichalkaranji and constructed the multi-purpose hall during his tenure. He is also the founder President of The Yarn Merchants Association, Ichalkaranji. He is a trustee of Rajasthani Gowseva Sangh and Gow Savardhani Agnihotr Trust and Balaji Seva Mandal. He was a part of the committee for the construction of both the Goshalas and Balaji temple at Ichalkaranji. He is also the past President and current trustee of Laxminarayan Mandir Trust, Kolhapur.

Over the years, Rtn Arun has been felicitated with prestigious awards by Akhil Bhartiya Agrawal Samaj, Agrawal Samaj Maharashtra, Rotary club of Ichalkaranji Central, Lions Club of Ichalkaranji, Mahesh Seva Samiti amongst others.

Through his family trust Goenka Foundation, Rtn Arun Goenka continues to contribute generously for medical, educational and other needs of the community.
