Rotary club of Kolhapur have started Parkinson’s Disease Rehab project in 2018-19. The project aims at rehabilitation of Parkinson’s Disease affected patients by early detection and rehab, enabling them healthy aging. This project is monitored by a separate committee of club members under the leadership of Rtn. Amit Mate and Rtn. Arunkumar Goenka. Till June 2019 the project has 43 registered patients seeking benefit of the facilities. This project is guided by Parkinson’s Disease Movement Disorder Society, Mumbai.

Rotary club of Kolhapur has applied a Global Grant GG 20100638 for Parkinson’s Rehab Center at our New Building of RSSK. Under this grant Rehab centre’s infrastructure, and physiotherapy equipments are sanctioned by The Rotary Foundation. This grant is sanctioned by TRF within 2 weeks without a single query which shows that real community need is identified and addressed by our club.

Items considered under the grant

1. Physiotherapy Equipments for Parkinson's Disease Rehab:- Commercial Motorized
Treadmill, Commercial Recumbent Bike, Lat Pull Down/Low Rowing Combo, Leg Extension / Leg Curl Combo, Air Magnetic Rower

2. Anti skid flooring.

3. Acoustic False ceiling.

4. Fire protection hydrant line, smoke detectors, fire alarm & sprinkler system.

5. Audiology set up(silent cabin) for speech therapy which will consist of - Distortion product auto acoustic emission (DPOAE) screener with printer, Portable diagnostic audiometer.

6. Occupational training Mock set up- like toilet commode , wash basin, etc for occupational behavioural training.

7. Audio visual Systems- Throw Projector with motorised screen, wifi, Laptop, Cpmputer, allied cables, installation, Sound system.

8. Air Conditioning System.

9. Training of Physiotherapists.
There is no such treatment center currently available in any Government or private hospital in Kolhapur cityand near by area of 50 kms . Needy patients with weak economical background will be the beneficiaries.
